Dr. James A. Ferguson Emerging Infectious Diseases Graduate Fellowship

The Dr. James A. Ferguson Emerging Infectious Diseases Graduate Fellowship provides research and professional development opportunities in infectious disease research and health disparities for graduate students and post-graduates. The program offers mentorship and placements across research areas including epidemiology, laboratory science, advanced molecular detection, wastewater surveillance, and emergency preparedness. It is administered by CDC's Office of Minority Health with support from the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases. The fellowship is offered in multiple tracks (Summer, 6-month, 12-month) with cohort start months described.

Research and professional development opportunities, mentorship, and placement in public health research projects focused on infectious diseases and health disparities.

Eligibility is limited to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or permanent residents. A minimum GPA of 3.0 (preferred) and full participation for the fellowship duration are expected. Track-specific requirements apply: Summer Track requires full-time graduate enrollment in relevant graduate degree programs; 6-Month Track requires current enrollment or graduation within one year prior to start; 12-Month Track requires completion of a graduate degree prior to start.
