Africa Institute Senior & Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026

The Africa Institute offers Senior and Postdoctoral Fellowships as a competitive annual program for original research in the humanities and social sciences, focused on Africa and the African diaspora. Senior Fellows are one-year residencies for established scholars, while Postdoctoral Fellows are two-year residencies for early-career researchers. Fellows receive support including office space, library resources, technical support, residency-related administration, salary disbursement, HR matters, and access to research funding.

Senior Fellowships are open to scholars at the associate professor or full professor level (or equivalent). Postdoctoral Fellowships require a Ph.D. awarded within the last five years.
