DevOps Engineer for Data Management

The DevOps Engineer for Data Management is a funded, time-limited professional position within CERN’s IT Storage and Data Management group (IT-SD). The role focuses on development and operation of large-scale scientific data management technologies (such as Rucio) and integrations with supercomputers and AI infrastructures. The post involves software development, system administration (including Kubernetes), contributions to open-source projects, and operational support for data services used by LHC and non-LHC experiments. Contracts may be extended up to 36 months and include relocation support and CERN employment benefits.

Monthly stipend (5266-5793 CHF), 30 days paid leave plus annual closure, health insurance coverage for self/spouse/children, CERN Pension Fund membership, family/child allowances, relocation package, on-the-job and formal training including language classes, possibility to extend contract up to 36 months.

Applicants must be nationals of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State (with some nationalities excluded as noted). By the application deadline, candidates must have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation, hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree (no PhD), and must never have had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
