GeoFORCE Texas Summer Academies

The GeoFORCE Texas Summer Academies are week-long, cohort-based field academies that introduce students to geology through hands-on field work and classroom group projects across geologically significant sites in the United States. Academies are grade-specific (9th–12th) and include a virtual academy and a Math & Science Institute for incoming college students. The 12th grade academy includes a week of research work at the University of Texas at Austin and a closing GeoFORCE Symposium where students present their research.

Week-long hands-on fieldwork, in-class group projects, instruction from geology professors and research scientists, assistance from teachers and industry professionals, college dorm stay and faculty-mentored research for 12th grade participants, presentation opportunity at the GeoFORCE Symposium and potential participation in the AGU national conference.

Students in 9th through 12th grade are eligible for the grade-specific in-person academies; students currently registered for the in-person academies may register for the virtual academy. GeoFORCE alumni (the summer before their first year of college) may apply to the Math & Science Institute.
