Swinburne University of Technology Research Stipend Scholarship

The Swinburne University of Technology Research Stipend Scholarship supports candidates of exceptional research potential undertaking doctoral studies (PhD or Professional Doctorate). The scholarship provides a living stipend, tuition fee support and associated research entitlements. It is available to both domestic and international students and is administered through Swinburne’s research scholarships program. Applicants may be automatically considered for SUPRA and RTP Stipend scholarships where applicable.

Annual living stipend ($35,500 indexed, 2026 rate) for three years (possible 6-month extension), tuition fee support for up to four years, paid leave of absence, thesis allowance, relocation allowance; automatic consideration for SUPRA and RTP stipends where applicable.

Applicants must meet the entry requirements for a PhD or Professional Doctorate at Swinburne, hold a Bachelor Degree with First Class Honours (or equivalent), propose a research project aligned to Swinburne research areas, and not be receiving another stipend over 75% of the scholarship rate. Also applies to current Swinburne PhD students enrolled for less than two years at the closing date who have demonstrated outstanding progress.

Apply via Swinburne HDR application selecting 'Swinburne Research Scholarships', submit HDR Research Proposal signed by nominated Principal Supervisor, certified transcripts, proof of citizenship/ID, resume, evidence of prior research/publications, English language evidence, and arrange two referees to submit reports by the stated dates.
