Beacon Scholarship

The Beacon Scholarship supports financially disadvantaged prospective undergraduate students from East Africa to study at partner universities such as Cardiff University. The programme combines a partial financial award with a leadership development and mentorship programme, regular academic support and opportunities for community engagement. Medical degrees are explicitly excluded from the programme.

Partial contribution to tuition and living expenses; leadership development programme; regular mentoring and academic follow-up; opportunities for community engagement.

Applicants must be citizens or residents of eligible East African countries such as Kenya, Tanzania or Uganda, demonstrate clear financial need, show proven leadership/change-maker potential, and hold an offer of admission to an eligible undergraduate degree.

Verify eligibility with the Beacon programme and partner university, obtain an admission offer for an eligible undergraduate programme, submit a completed scholarship application with financial evidence, academic transcripts and references, and attend selection interviews if shortlisted.
