Jewish Heritage Professional Language Courses Grant

A grant programme for Jewish heritage professionals to improve working knowledge of Hebrew or other Jewish languages (e.g. Yiddish, Judeo-Spanish). Grants of up to £2,000 are available to cover tuition for courses administered by an institution, with payment made directly to the language school. Courses may be taken online or in person and a certificate of attendance and short evaluation are required on completion. Applicants must be employed by a not-for-profit heritage organisation with a significant Jewish collection and have at least six months' professional experience.

Applicants must be Jewish heritage staff (e.g. archivists, librarians, conservators, curators, educators, cataloguers) working professionally at least 16 hours per week in a museum, archive, library or other heritage organisation with a significant Jewish collection, based in a European country, and have at least 6 months' professional experience. The employing organisation must operate on a not-for-profit basis and proof of this status is required; applications are not funded retroactively.

Apply via the Rothschild Foundation online grants portal; applications can be made by the individual with a required letter of support from a supervisor and supporting documents (proof of non-profit status, professional CV up to 2 pages, translations into English where necessary).
