Discovery Research Future Leaders Fellowship

The Discovery Research Future Leaders Fellowship is a long-term funded fellowship to support high-potential scientists leading independent cardiovascular research projects and teams. It supports non-clinician scientists including bench-based discovery scientists, epidemiologists, data scientists, geneticists, engineers and behavioural scientists, and is open to applicants returning from industry or from a career break. Fellowships can be awarded for up to seven years (or equivalent part-time duration) and may include support for salary, research costs, travel and discretionary development funds. The scheme is open to international applicants who plan to come to the UK through the accelerated endorsement of the UK Global Talent visa.

Fellow's salary; salary for an associated research post if justified; research consumables; essential equipment; discretionary development fund (up to £7,000); travel fund (up to £7,000); contribution for caring responsibilities (up to £1,400); return travel for long overseas visits as specified.

Applicants must demonstrate exceptional research ability and clear steps towards research independence, and must have at least four years post-doctoral experience. The scheme is open to non-clinician scientists working on cardiovascular research, scientists returning from industry, candidates returning from a career break (over 6 months) and international candidates planning to come to the UK via accelerated endorsement of the UK Global Talent visa.
