Clinical Senior Research Fellowship

The Clinical Senior Research Fellowship is a funded fellowship for outstanding clinician scientists aiming to grow or lead an independent cardiovascular research group, typically on a trajectory to a professorship. Awards are for up to five years (or equivalent part-time) and require a position in an eligible host institution which will underwrite 50% of the fellow's salary. The fellowship supports research within the British Heart Foundation’s cardiovascular remit and may include funding for associated posts, consumables, equipment, discretionary and travel funds. It is open to international applicants and those returning from a career break.

50% salary contribution; salary for associated posts; research consumables and essential equipment; discretionary fund (up to £2,500 BHF, matched by host); travel fund (up to £5,000); part-time (≥0.5 FTE) possible; mentors and host support.

Applicants must hold their CCT, be trained in a clinical specialty, and be established postdoctoral investigators (often having held a mid-career/intermediate clinical research postdoctoral fellowship) with evidence of exceptional research ability and an emerging independent research group. Applicants must hold (or be moving to) a position in an eligible host institution which will underwrite 50% of their salary and must not have held a tenured position in the host institution for more than two years. The scheme is also open to international candidates and to those returning from a career break of more than six months.
