Race Against Dementia Teams Award 2026

The Race Against Dementia Teams Award is a collaborative research grant funding programme supporting basic, translational and clinical dementia research in key areas including diagnostics, prevention, disease mechanisms and treatment development. Grants are awarded to research teams led by a principal investigator and provide long-term support to assemble multidisciplinary teams. Funding is accompanied by access to mentoring and performance training offered by Race Against Dementia. Awards provide up to £750,000 paid over five years, with caps on annual and eligible cost categories.

Research grant up to £750,000 over five years; access to Race Against Dementia mentoring and elite performance training; allowance for specified travel, equipment, consultancy and training costs within caps.

Applications are invited for basic, translational or clinical dementia research projects. Principal investigators should assemble teams consisting typically of early-career postdoctoral researchers, PhD students, clinical research fellows and technicians. Only one application per applicant is allowed; there is no institutional limit on submissions.

Two-stage application via Rosetrees' Flexigrant portal: Stage 1 Expression of Interest submitted via Flexigrant (EOI window 19 Nov 2025–2 Feb 2026); shortlisted applicants invited to submit full proposals from May 2026. Applications assessed by an expert panel chaired by Professor John O’Brien.
