Phi Beta Kappa Book Awards

The Phi Beta Kappa Book Awards are a set of annual literary prizes presented in multiple categories, including the Christian Gauss Award, the Phi Beta Kappa Award in Science, and the Ralph Waldo Emerson Award. The awards recognise outstanding books published by publishers and are administered by the Phi Beta Kappa Society. Publishers submit nominated books for consideration and provide copies for review. Entry is by nomination from publishers rather than from authors.

Eligible books must have an original publication date between January 1 and December 31, 2026, and nominations must be submitted directly by the publisher; authors may not submit entries.

Publishers must complete the Nomination Form and submit one copy of each book (digital review copies preferred); submissions must come directly from the publisher.
