Africa Women Writers Residency 2026

The Africa Women Writers Residency 2026 is a fully funded four-week program for emerging women writers from five African countries. The residency combines three weeks of virtual workshops and mentorship with one in-person week in Nairobi, Kenya, and may include guest lectures and publication in an anthology. The program is designed for writers working in fiction, fantasy, creative nonfiction, memoir, or poetry.

Travel, accommodation, meals, local transportation, cultural activities, mentorship and guest lectures, and potential publication in an anthology.

Emerging women writers from Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, or South Africa who write fiction, fantasy, creative nonfiction, memoir, or poetry and are proficient in English.

Prepare a 250-word motivation letter and a writing sample on the theme 'A New Dawn for Africa' (up to 1,000 words for prose or one poem up to 1,000 words) and submit as directed to residency@majestypublishingafrica.com.
