Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology International Summer Internship

A three-month summer internship at the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology offering hands-on research projects under supervision of institute scientists and a complementary program of soft-skill courses and excursions. It is aimed at international Bachelor’s and Master’s students and includes administrative support in Berlin. The program runs from August to October 2026 and provides a stipend and support for travel and accommodation. Participants gain research experience, access to the institute's scientific network, and training for PhD applications.

€1,400 stipend, travel compensation, accommodation close to the institute, complementary training program (soft skills, presentation and application training), excursions, administrative support, access to research network and hands-on research experience.

Enrolled university students (Bachelor or Master); bachelor-level applicants must have completed at least four semesters at time of application; background relevant to proposed projects (e.g. biology, medicine, biochemistry, epidemiology); good command of English; available for full internship period; voluntary internships only (cannot be for credit). Applicants should have strong academic records and reasons why access to higher education is constrained.

Call opened October 2025; applicants submit an application (see application guide), pre-selection creates a shortlist, shortlisted candidates are interviewed online, selected candidates receive an offer letter by email.
