NIAS Fellowship 2027-2028

The NIAS Fellowship offers individual fellowships for scholars to conduct independent research in the humanities and social sciences. Fellowships run for five or ten months within an interdisciplinary community at NIAS. Fellows receive time, space, and access to resources to develop and pursue their research proposals.

Stipends; Travel expenses; Offices and accommodation; NIAS Library; Facilities for the organisation of an Expert Workshop.

NIAS Individual Fellowships are awarded to scholars from both the Netherlands and abroad. Applicants should have at least three years of academic experience since obtaining their PhD, and their project proposal should be related to the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences. The fellowships are open to scholars who do not hold a permanent position at a university or research institute.

Complete the online application form with personal details and career information, upload a full proposal (max. 1,500 words), CV, and publication list. Provide three international experts as potential reviewers with no conflicts of interest.
