DAAD Scholarships in Germany for Development-Related Postgraduate Courses

The DAAD scholarships offer foreign graduates from developing and newly industrialized countries the chance to take a postgraduate or Master’s degree (and in exceptional cases a doctoral degree) at German universities in development-related fields. The scholarships include monthly payments, health/accident/personal liability insurance, travel allowance, and potential additional benefits such as rent subsidies. Scholarships cover study in various disciplines and are intended for applicants with at least two years of professional experience working on development-related directives and projects.

Typical candidates are foreign graduates from developing countries with at least two years of related professional experience, holding a bachelor’s degree in a related subject, and a national of a country listed by OECD-DAC (with some country exclusions). Language requirements depend on course language (German or English) and a preparatory German course may be offered.
