The Public Health Laboratory Fellowship Program, an APHL–CDC initiative, prepares scientists for careers in public health laboratory science through year-long placements at host laboratories. Fellows are trained in alignment with public health laboratory core competencies and work on program-specific projects across areas such as infectious disease, environmental health, newborn screening, bioinformatics and laboratory operations. The program supports workforce development, networking and leadership development and connects fellows with mentors and the wider public health laboratory community.
