Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest

The Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest is an annual art competition for high school students administered by the VFW Auxiliary. It accepts two-dimensional works (with a separate 3-Dimensional Patriotic Art Contest for three-dimensional pieces) and awards national scholarship prizes. The contest aims to recognize young artists and encourage patriotism. Entries are judged at local (Auxiliary), department (state) and national levels.

Monetary national scholarship awards (totaling $37,000 for 2-D contest; $5,500 for 3-D contest); recognition as state and national winners.

Students in grades 9-12 by the March 31 deadline who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States, its territories and possessions; or dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools. U.S. citizenship is not required but students must be permanent residents or have applied for permanent residence status. Foreign exchange students, students age 20 or older, GED and adult education students, and past national winners are ineligible.

Complete entry form and attach to back of entry; submit artwork meeting size and media requirements; include a typed explanation (250 words or less). Submit entries to local VFW Auxiliary by the student entry deadline, with subsequent forwarding to department and national levels per stated deadlines.
