Postdoctoral Position on Climate Change Research in the Himalayas 2026

A four-year postdoctoral research position at the University of Guelph within the ERC-funded AdaptAIR project, focusing on ethnographic and qualitative visual research on climate change adaptation in Himalayan cold deserts. The role supports community-engaged fieldwork in Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and potentially Nepal and contributes to interdisciplinary publications. It is a full-time, funded research post with a flexible start date. The position is based at the University of Guelph and involves collaboration with King's College London and Indian partner institutions.

Minimum annual salary of $70,000 CAD; full-time employment (35 hours/week); four-year contract; extensive fieldwork opportunities in Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and potentially Nepal; contribution to interdisciplinary research and publications; opportunity to develop a personal research agenda.

Applicants must hold a PhD (or be near completion) in anthropology, geography, international development or a related field; have qualitative field research experience, fluency in English and Hindi, and willingness to conduct extended fieldwork in remote Himalayan regions.
