Pushing the frontiers of environmental research

Pushing the frontiers of environmental research is a UKRI/NERC funding opportunity for curiosity-driven, high-reward environmental science projects. It supports multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research and is open to research groups and individuals based at UK research organisations eligible for NERC funding. Projects may be pure, applied, technology-led, or policy-driven but must address clearly defined environmental science questions. Awards are usually for between three and four years.

Grant funding covering 80% of FEC up to a project FEC of £950,000; awards are usually for three to four years; limited incidental expenses for project partners may be covered.

Applicants must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for NERC funding and in a role that meets individual eligibility requirements. project partners may be international but must typically fund their own involvement.
