Royal Society – Research Ireland University Research Fellowship 2026

This scheme provides fellowships for outstanding scientists in the Republic of Ireland who are in the early stages of their research career and have the potential to become leaders in their field. It aims to help recipients build an independent research career and become strong candidates for permanent posts in universities or research bodies after the fellowship. The Royal Society awards the fellowship, with funding provided by Research Ireland, for eight years with the final three years subject to mid-point assessment. Fellowships are awarded across all fields of the natural sciences, including biology, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, and physics.

Salary contributions, institutional overheads, and research expenses allowance for up to eight years; potential path to permanent academic positions.
