Gulbenkian Institute for Advanced Study Scholarships 2027/2028

Applications are open for the Gulbenkian Institute for Advanced Study Scholarships 2027/2028. The fellowships are intended to support internationally renowned scholars in conducting free research for a limited period of time, usually between three and eight months, in an environment conducive to reflection and intellectual dialogue. Fellows will be able to develop their proposed projects within a diverse scholarly community.

Monthly fellowship stipend; housing allowance; office and research facilities at the Institute; residence at the Institute in Lisbon; access to an international multidisciplinary research community; participation in seminars, lectures and workshops; protected time for independent research.

The Institute intends to receive internationally renowned academics, mostly active, but will also consider applications from emeritus professors, independent scholars, and artists.

Submit an application including a CV, a brief description of the activities during the residency, and the names of two potential referees; the offer is made to selected candidates from the end of January of the following year.
