Center Field Research Grants

A competitive field research grant program administered by the University of Florida Center for Latin American Studies to support graduate student research in Latin America and the Caribbean (also supports U.S. research on Latinx topics and research in Spain or Portugal on aspects of Latin America). Awards are monetary grants typically between $1,000 and $2,000 and may be used for travel, lodging, meals, and other research-related expenses. Priority is given to applicants pursuing a Graduate Certificate or an M.A. in Latin American Studies; support is available for Master’s thesis research and preliminary doctoral dissertation field visits.

Open to graduate students from across the University of Florida campus with priority to applicants pursuing a Graduate Certificate or an M.A. in Latin American Studies; supports Master's thesis research and preliminary doctoral dissertation field visits (Ph.D. students who have advanced to candidacy are not eligible).

Submit LAS Field Research Grant Application, Budget Form, UF transcript, one adviser recommendation with release form, abstract (≤250 words), timetable, and a proposal (≤4 single-spaced pages); apply via the LAS Submittable application link.
