Swiss Mathematical Olympiad (Schweizer Mathematik Olympiade, SMO)

The Swiss Mathematical Olympiad (SMO) is a competition for pupils under 20 with an interest in mathematics beyond the usual school curriculum. Top performers participate in a weeklong camp with learning and practice activities. Through later rounds, successful contestants may be selected to represent Switzerland at international competitions such as the International Mathematical Olympiad and the Middle European Mathematical Olympiad. There are also pathways for outstanding girls to take part in the European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad.

Participation in a weeklong training and practice camp; opportunity to advance through rounds and potentially represent Switzerland at international Olympiads (IMO, MEMO); opportunities for outstanding female contestants to attend the European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad.

Pupils under 20 years of age who are interested in mathematics beyond the usual school syllabus; participants from the Principality of Liechtenstein can compete alongside Swiss contestants.
