PhD Scholarship at the University of Limerick, Ireland 2026

The University of Limerick is inviting applications for a fully funded PhD Scholarship within the Centre for Applied Language Studies. The four-year doctoral opportunity focuses on climate journalism, sociolinguistics, and interdisciplinary research, as part of a project on reporting climate change in Irish and German media. The successful candidate will receive a stipend, tuition coverage, and opportunities for conferences, publications, and supervision by leading researchers.

Annual stipend of €25,000; payment of EU student tuition fees; opportunities for international conferences, career development programmes, academic workshops, collaborative publications and professional research training.

Applicants must have at least an honours undergraduate degree with a 2.1 classification in Linguistics, German, English, Journalism or related fields, and demonstrate B2 level English and German proficiency.
