Knight Science Journalism Program at MIT 2026-2027

The Knight Science Journalism Program at MIT offers academic-year fellowships to science journalists from around the world. Fellows audit courses at MIT and partner institutions, participate in seminars and field trips, and develop a research project in journalism during the fellowship year. The program supports professional development through workshops, exposure to researchers, and opportunities to expand storytelling skills.

Stipend, travel and housing stipend, basic health insurance for fellow and family

Applicants must be full-time journalists (staff or freelance), have at least three consecutive years of experience in science, health, technology or environmental reporting, and be reporters, writers, editors, producers, illustrators, filmmakers, or photojournalists.

Submit a set of documents including Statement of Purpose, Career Summary, resume, Research Project Proposal, work samples, and three professional references; apply via the Submittable portal.
