European Ombudsman Traineeships 2026

The European Ombudsman Traineeship is a paid, full-time, one-year internship within a core EU institution, aimed at recent graduates or final-year students. Trainees work in Brussels or Strasbourg on issues related to EU administration, transparency, accountability, and governance, receiving mentorship and structured supervision.

Full-time, one-year internship with supervision, mentorship, and exposure to EU institutions; compensation provided.

Applicants must be nationals of an EU member state (or an EU accession/candidate country), hold a minimum bachelor’s degree, have knowledge of an EU official language plus very good knowledge of another EU official language (English mandatory), and meet conditions regarding prior EU traineeships.

Separate annual call typically occurs with deadlines in March.
