East Africa PhD Fellowships

Fast Track PhD fellowships within the MUII fellowship programme, a collaboration between Makerere University and the Uganda Virus Research Institute, with partners in London and Cambridge. The programme funds PhD training focused on Infection and Immunity in East Africa, with possible sandwich attachments to overseas institutions. Fellowships include a stipend, tuition fees, research costs and travel support, for a two-year period.

Stipend, university fees, research costs, travel and subsistence for overseas attachments, and conference attendance.

Applicants must have a Masters project that can be expanded into a PhD project and show commitment to pursuing an academic, research career in East Africa.

Applications are evaluated based on the applicant’s form, project concept and recommendation letters; shortlisted candidates are interviewed in mid-August 2013.
