Medical Student Summer Research Internship Program

The Medical Student Summer Research Internship Program is an 8-week summer research programme that places medical students with mentors in basic science or clinical research. Interns are matched with mentors at LSUHSC-New Orleans campus and affiliated hospitals throughout Louisiana and learn laboratory and clinical research techniques. The programme includes required seminars on responsible conduct in research and professional development, and all interns present their research at the annual Medical Student Research Symposium. Participants may pursue continued work through the School's Honors Program and often present at conferences or publish their findings.
