Gustav Magnus Medal

The Gustav Magnus Medal is a special form of honorary membership of the German Physical Society (DPG) awarded to a person who, from another field of research or life, has promoted the connection to physics in an outstanding manner and for the benefit of physics and society. It is granted only in specially justified exceptional cases and is intended to remain rare relative to DPG honorary members. The medal confers a special honorary membership status under the DPG statutes.
