Infrastructure Priority Programme “International Continental Scientific Drilling Program (ICDP)” (SPP 1006)

SPP 1006 (ICDP) is an infrastructure priority programme funding research connected to continental scientific drilling and related core/sample-based studies, development of drilling devices and long-term experiment techniques. It supports project proposals linked to future, ongoing or past drilling campaigns addressing themes such as geodynamics, geohazards, georesources and environmental change. The programme accepts proposals for funding periods of up to three years and includes networking via an annual ICDP/IODP colloquium.

Funding for cutting-edge research on drilling data and samples, basic research on core material, development and preparation of drilling projects, pre-site surveys, development/use of drilling devices and logging tools, and innovative experimental techniques for long-term measurements.

Proposals must be submitted in English and have a clear link to a future, ongoing or past drilling campaign; applicants are research institutions/researchers and institutions must have implemented the DFG Code of Conduct for Good Research Practice. First-time applicants must register in the elan portal by 2026-09-16.
