Mark Wainberg Fellowship Programme 2025-2027

The Mark Wainberg Fellowship Programme is a two-year fellowship offering expert training in the medical management of people living with HIV, with a focus on providing appropriate care for diverse client groups. Selected clinicians from Africa spend one year in Europe and one year in Africa at clinical institutions to contribute to improved HIV service delivery in Africa. The programme also includes guidance on applying for research grants, writing research outputs, and understanding vaccine and cure research context.

Travel and visa costs, accommodation, living expenses, health insurance, and tuition fees paid to host institutions; stipend described as a fellowship award rather than salary.

Applicant must hold a medical doctor degree, have at least two years of clinical experience, be a citizen of an African country and currently working in Africa, be committed to becoming a HIV specialist, and speak English, French and Portuguese.
