HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship

The HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship is a prestigious, cohort-style scholarship for outstanding full‑time PhD students at The University of Hong Kong. It provides a comprehensive funding package including a monthly postgraduate scholarship, cash awards, fee waivers, conference and research travel allowances, and guaranteed first‑year accommodation. The programme offers academic training, mentorship by faculty, teaching training and individualised advisory services. Selected applicants are invited to interviews as part of the selection process.

All applicants applying for the full-time PhD programme at HKU will be considered; the programme seeks the brightest candidates passionate about research. Applicants in the Main Round (1 September – 1 December) are specifically mentioned and may be encouraged to also apply for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme.
