ASHRAE Undergraduate Program Equipment Grants

The ASHRAE Undergraduate Program Equipment Grants provide funding to engineering, technical and architectural schools worldwide to increase student knowledge and awareness of the HVAC&R industry. Grants fund equipment and supplies for undergraduate and 2-year technical school projects on ASHRAE-related topics, typically for projects lasting one academic term up to one year. Projects creating hands-on teaching/demonstrations receive higher ranking; computer hardware is explicitly excluded while specialized data acquisition software tied to a project may be acceptable. Selected schools must submit mid-year (for full-year projects) and final reports, and top teams may receive travel support to present at ASHRAE's Winter Meeting Student Program.

Funding for equipment and supplies for undergraduate/2-year technical projects (up to stated maxima); top two ranking teams (two students per team max) receive transportation and a two-night hotel stay to attend the Winter Meeting Student Program to present their project.

Applications must be submitted by the faculty member(s) responsible for the project from any engineering, architecture, or engineering technology department; the project must involve an ASHRAE-related topic. Faculty and students responsible for the project are not required to be ASHRAE members.

Faculty advisor submits an electronic application including a completed project description and itemized budget; both the Word file and the online form must be submitted. Optional account can be created to save progress. Applicants will be notified by March 1; funds available on or after August 1. Electronic submission must be received by December 15.
