National Research Awards

The National Research Awards are granted to Estonian researchers and research teams for outstanding results in research and development. Awards include a lifetime achievement award, annual awards across several fields (natural sciences, engineering and technology, medical and health sciences, agricultural and veterinary sciences, social sciences, humanities and the arts) and an award for a scientific discovery or invention with significant socio-economic impact. Monetary prizes are specified for each category. Proposals must be submitted electronically in the Estonian Academy of Sciences online application system.

Monetary prizes: lifetime achievement award (up to €65,000); annual awards (up to eight awards of €20,000 each); scientific discovery award (up to €50,000).

Estonian researchers and research teams; candidates must be nominated by eligible nominators such as academic councils of research institutions, members of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, the Board of the Estonian Young Academy, employer and industry organisations.

Candidates must be nominated by eligible nominators and proposals submitted electronically via the Estonian Academy of Sciences online application system with required documents (CVs, publications, nomination justification, decision of nominating organisation, etc.).
