Africa Fellows in Education Program 2026/2027

The Africa Fellows in Education Program (AFEP) offers two-year, fully supported research fellowships for young African researchers to build expertise in education policy and evidence-based decision-making. The program combines in-country activities with regional and international training, mentoring, and networking opportunities, including attendance at two major conferences on the economics of education. Fellows conduct a research or evaluation project under supervision and receive support from a network of advisors from Stanford University and other organisations.

Research grant, mentorship, conference travel, in-country workshops, and access to international networks of researchers and policy advisers.

Applicants must be nationals of a Sub-Saharan African country, be 35 years old or younger, hold a Master’s or PhD in a relevant field with a strong quantitative focus, and be affiliated with a government, research, or higher education institution; proficiency in English is required.
