International Summer School on Geohazards in Volcanic Islands

An eight-day international summer school on geological hazards affecting volcanic islands, covering volcanism, volcanic fluids, earthquakes and landslides with lectures, monitoring techniques, practical exercises and field trips. The 6th edition will be held at the Ponta Delgada campus of the University of the Azores from 2026-07-12 to 2026-07-19. It brings together international experts and provides opportunities for interdisciplinary dialogue and interaction between senior scientists and early-career researchers. The programme includes lectures, hands-on practicals, student presentations and field trips to local volcanic areas.

No registration fee, accommodation in shared rooms in local hostels for the week, and lunch provided during the entire week; field trips and access to lectures and practical exercises.

Aimed at PhD and MSc students in Earth Sciences; applicants will be selected based on their CVs and motivation letters.
