Global Essay Competition

The Global Essay Competition is an international programme in health and care education and leadership development that invites young people to write essays on health, social care, wellbeing and public health systems. It runs through institution, district, state, national and global levels and assesses entries using an official rubric focused on health understanding, public health relevance, leadership solutions and communication. Participants are grouped into four age categories from 13 to 35 and may progress to national and global finals, with gala events for some categories. All participants receive recognition certificates and winners receive public recognition and leadership profiling.

All participants receive official recognition certificates; winners receive public recognition and are celebrated at their institution and community; national gala for national winners and a Global Gala in London for CAT3/CAT4; leadership profiling opportunities.

GEC welcomes students, schools, colleges, universities, coordinators, and partner organisations from around the world; the competition is open to countries that want to work with CommonHealth Awards CIC and support youth leadership in health and care.

Participation is coordinated through institutions and national coordinators.
