Bonn International Graduate School of Oriental and Asian Studies (BIGS-OAS)

BIGS-OAS is a doctoral programme at the University of Bonn that focuses on the cultures and societies of Asia and the Middle East in change through time and global interaction. Doctoral students participate in a structured programme, with opportunities to conduct research and field studies abroad during the second or third year, and receive individual supervision and a modular curriculum. The programme awards two one-year stipends (800 EUR per month) to new BIGS-OAS PhD students each year, and funds conference trips and research stays; living costs are noted separately as part of the student budget.
