Lights On! Rethinking the Smart Lighting Object

Lights On! is an international student luminaire design competition inviting proposals for indoor or outdoor smart luminaires that emphasise creative management of light, adaptability, interaction, energy efficiency, sustainable materials or new fabrication methods. Submissions should unite function, aesthetics and spatial experience with attention to light emission and the object's making, use and positioning. Entries may be individual or team submissions and shortlisted entries will receive certificates; top prizes include two IEEE First Prizes and a Smart Experience Award with potential support for prototype development.

Two IEEE First Prizes, Certificates of Merit or Excellence for shortlisted entries, Smart Experience Award (with potential support for developing a functional prototype subject to technical feasibility), and conference attendance included for one person per submission voucher.

Open to currently enrolled undergraduate and postgraduate students in Design and Lighting educational programmes at Higher Education Institutions and Colleges. Entries may be individual or team submissions with no limit on the number of proposals.

Prepare required files (A1 PDF board, drawings, description, participant form, proof of payment, student status certificate) and submit completed proposals by email to LS2026competition@gmail.com. A participation voucher purchase and proof of payment must be included.
