Affiliated Ph.D. Programs

The Affiliated Ph.D. Programs are fully funded doctoral scholarships for up to 12 students to pursue a PhD in Portugal with a mandatory research period at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh. Selected candidates undertake their PhD at a Portuguese university and receive tuition coverage plus a monthly stipend for up to four years, including a research period of up to 12 months at CMU. The program covers multiple Information and Communication Technologies (TIC) areas, with recent enhancements including Neurocognitive Neuroscience and Neural Computation.

Applicants must be candidates for a PhD in Portugal in one of the specified areas and will conduct part of their doctoral research at CMU under the CMU Portugal program.
