New ERC grant typology and new eligibility windows for 2026-2027

The European Research Council announced a new grant typology (ERC Plus) and updated eligibility windows for the 2026–2027 programme, including funding up to seven years and up to seven million euros for selected researchers. The changes aim to expand opportunities for researchers across Europe and beyond, with details to be presented in a dedicated webinar and implemented in the 2027 work programme.

Researchers are eligible under updated rules, with examples including starting after PhD defense and extending up to 10 years post-degree for some grants, and consolidator windows 5–15 years post-PhD.
