Capacity Accelerator Network (CAN) Data Science Fellowship 2025 for Africans

The CAN Data Science Fellowship is a full-time programme for emerging data science professionals aimed at building climate and health impact across Africa. Fellows work on projects with host institutions and mentors, gain practical project experience, receive media training, and have opportunities to present their work at local, regional, and international events. The fellowship provides a monthly stipend and requires physical presence within the host department or office during the assignment period.

Candidates must have successfully completed a first university degree and demonstrate capacity to undertake independent advanced academic research and study. Candidates must have 3 years working experience in data management, analysis and visualization. Candidates must have good communication skills and possess good quantitative and/or qualitative analytical skills. Candidates must have strong expertise in technology, systems development, big data, open data and data science. Candidates should have working knowledge of the contexts of African countries, in respect to climate and health. This is a full time position; fellows are expected to participate in activities and follow the programme.
