Selection Competition for Candidates for Artistic Directors of Professional State Theatres

A national competition organized to select candidates for the positions of artistic director at several professional state theatres under the authority of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia. The role requires higher artistic education (director or actor by profession) or, in exceptional cases, recognised artistic experience and merits. Candidates are evaluated by a recommending council which reviews submitted documentation, may conduct interviews, and forwards recommended candidates to the Minister for appointment. The competition covers multiple named professional state theatres in Georgia.

Recommendation for appointment as artistic director of the specified professional state theatre; the appointed artistic director assumes leadership, managerial and creative responsibilities of the theatre.

The right to nominate candidates belongs to legal entities engaged in theatrical activity with at least ten years of experience and to initiative groups composed of at least five members; each initiative group or professional state theatre may submit only one candidate. Other legal entities engaged in theatrical activity (outside professional state theatres) may submit no more than three candidates across up to three different theatres. A person may be nominated for the artistic director position of several theatres.

Nominations must be submitted to the Ministry in writing and include a nomination addressed to the Minister, the candidate's detailed CV, identity document copy, copy of the candidate's highest education diploma, and a four-year theatre development strategy. Submissions were accepted at the Ministry address in Tbilisi by the stated deadline.
