Annual Meeting Travel Grants

The Annual Meeting Travel Grants support attendance at the Seismological Society of America (SSA) Annual Meeting by providing complimentary registration and funds for lodging, meals, and travel. SSA offers multiple grant categories including Student Travel Grants, Early-Career Grants, International Travel Grants, ESC/SSA Travel Grants, and Domestic Regular Members Travel Grants. Recipients must be first authors on their abstract and present their work at the meeting. Award amounts vary by travel origin, and some categories have specific membership or career-stage requirements.

Complimentary Annual Meeting registration; monetary support for lodging, meals and travel (up to $2,000 domestic, up to $3,000 international).

Different grant categories apply to SSA student members (inside or outside the U.S.), members within six years of their terminal degree (early-career), non-U.S. resident members who are six or more years post-terminal degree, applicants from ESC member states (ESC/SSA grant), and domestic regular SSA members (government employees are ineligible). Student and early-career applicants must have a faculty advisor or supervisor submit a one- to two-paragraph letter of support by 30 November 2026. All recipients must be first author on their abstract and present at the meeting.

Applications open 1–30 November 2026. Applicants submit application materials and abstracts; student and early-career applicants require a one- to two-paragraph letter of support submitted by a faculty advisor or supervisor to ssagrants@seismosoc.org by 2026-11-30. Applicants will be evaluated on personal essay, abstract and letter of support.
