Harry Oppenheimer Fellowship Award

The Harry Oppenheimer Fellowship Award is a prestigious fellowship that supports world-class scholars to pursue cutting-edge research. The award carries a monetary value of R3 million.

Nominations are accepted from South African universities, science councils, research and policy institutes and other institutions of similar national standing; the Trust will also consider applications from individuals without specific institutional affiliations. Short-listed candidates should be available for interviews in the first quarter of 2026.

Nominations or applications must be submitted via the Trust's application portal; only portal submissions are considered. Short-listed candidates are interviewed.
