NIHR UK Syphilis Research Scholarship (PhD Studentship)

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is offering a full-time 2026-27 NIHR UK Syphilis Research Scholarship (PhD studentship) commencing in September 2026. The award lasts three years and includes a tax-free stipend, Home-rate tuition fees, and allowances for research and travel costs. The scholarship supports research into innovative approaches to reduce the burden of syphilis and other STIs in the UK and provides access to LSHTM’s doctoral resources and opportunities to attend conferences.

Applicants must meet LSHTM’s minimum PhD entry requirements, hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field, have basic statistical skills and experience with STATA or R, and demonstrate independence, teamwork and strong communication skills, with eligibility for UK Home fee status.
