SCAR Visiting Scholar Scheme 2026

The SCAR Visiting Scholar Scheme provides short-term visiting opportunities for scientists and academics to build capacity in Antarctic research. It supports visits of one to four weeks to SCAR member countries and includes an international return flight and a contribution toward living expenses. Awards are up to USD 5,000 and are awarded through competitive selection.

The scheme is for any scientists and academics (more than five years after completing their PhD) whose research contributes to SCAR’s objectives; visits may be to smaller or developing programmes or from them.

Prepare a proposal detailing the proposed capacity-building activities, compile a CV (max 3 pages), and complete the online application.
