Research Grants

Annual research grant programmes supporting greener chemistry and sustainable pharmaceutical processes. Two main awards are offered in 2026: Key Research Area Grants ($80,000 for a 12-month commitment) and Ignition Grants ($40,000 for a six-month commitment). Grants support research projects and winners work closely with the GCIPR focus team that proposed the topic. The programme funds specified research costs and requires that any resulting patents be dedicated to the public, royalty-free.

Principal investigators (PIs) may submit applications; each PI is allowed one application to the Ignition Grants Program and one to the Key Research Area Grants Program. Applicants must provide their grant officer’s contact information or, if the institution has no grants office, upload a signed letter from an authorized university official who will serve as the grant’s financial officer.
