Beihilfe für ein Auslandsstudium

A monthly mobility allowance for students who undertake study periods abroad as part of a subsidised Austrian study programme. It is intended for students already receiving the Austrian Studienbeihilfe and is paid in addition to the domestic study grant. The allowance is available for study stays from one month up to a maximum of 20 months and has country-based monthly rates that change for stays beginning on or after 2026-03-01.

Students who are recipients of the Austrian Studienbeihilfe and who undertake one or more semesters or study periods abroad; conservatory students are excluded. A valid approval of the domestic Studienbeihilfe at the time of application is required.

Submit the SB AS 1 form or the online application for the Auslandsbeihilfe; applications must be filed no later than three months after the start of the study abroad period and final processing requires approved domestic Studienbeihilfe. A study success certificate and residence confirmation (or SB-AS 2) must be submitted after the stay.
