BioLAB Program

The BioLAB Program offers one-year research traineeships for students enrolled in Master or PhD programmes in Poland in life sciences, biophysics or medical fields. Traineeships are completed at one of four U.S. host institutions (University of Virginia, University of Chicago, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, UT Southwestern Medical Center). Participants work in laboratory research under the mentorship of experienced researchers and may use research outcomes in their Master’s or PhD thesis. Approximately 35–40 trainees are selected each year for 12-month placements.

Annual salary (28,000–35,000 USD), medical insurance provided by host institution, visa assistance, mentoring by host researchers, pre-departure orientation and ongoing program support

Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program in Poland with a major in life sciences, biophysics or medical fields (biology, biotechnology, medicine, physics, pharmacy, biochemistry etc.), hold at minimum a bachelor’s degree, be enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program (or long-cycle from 4th year) at a Polish university at time of interview, maintain active student status throughout the program, meet F-1 or J-1 visa requirements, have GPA above 4.0 (Polish scale) and English proficiency at B2 or higher. International students must have completed their undergraduate degree in Poland. Applicants studying outside Poland or with US citizenship/permanent residency are ineligible.
